Hi, customer downlowded the Ubuntu 11 VM for Sitara AM3517 exp kit from the Sitara one-day workshop site. However they have difficulties to even format the SD card.

Funny enough, the VM detected 4 devices /dev/sda, sdb, sdc, and sdd for the USB SD card reader they have. We figured out the sdc is the real device. However, when we run SCSI_DEV=/dev/sdc ./build_sd.sh, we got lots of errors.

USB SD card reader model: VYTECC, the VM recognizes it as Genesys Logic USB Devices

Error messages: disk not mounted.

I have a wav file that I can send to you that has more info. Please let me know how to send it over.

I have seen this problem. It can usually be corrected by using a different brand USB card reader. Please try that. Detecting each of the different types of card slots is normal.

Will the card mount if you perform the mount manually? What does the "sudo sg_map -i" command return?

Some of the "cheaper" SD card readers only support SD cards (i.e cards of size <= 2GB) and not SDHC (>2GB-32GB).
In case this is the problem you hit, you should as well be able to go on using a smaller sized SD card instead...
