AM5716: Can I use compiler v7.4.x

I'm attempting to create a project for the C66x DSP core on the AM5716 processor. The SDK release notes recommend using version 8.1.x of the compiler, however the project I'm creating has a shared build procedure, source files, and other resources with a project using the 7.4.x compiler. I was wondering if this is a hard and fast requirement or if this older version of the compiler will work?

Hi Elliott

I think that you can use the previous version of the compiler.

Enclosed is the description of what the new compiler does not support (compared with the previous version of the compiler) and for a C66 project, the only item that looks relevant to me is the COFF format. The new compiler does not support the COFF format, so if you have old libraries that were built with the COFF format, you MUST use compiler version v7.4x
