RTOS: What does "task is vital" mean in TI-RTOS configuration?

Tool/software: TI-RTOS

What does "task is vital" mean in TI-RTOS configuration? the description says "use the vital flag to prevent system exit until this task exits" can anyone elaborate on this ?

  • It is a property of the Task which would ensure the application is not terminated by the Kernel until all "vital" Tasks are completed. (Description from docs for vitalTaskFlag: Exit system immediately when the last task with this flag set to TRUE has terminated). This property is by default set to true.
