XEVMK2EX: K2E EVM - I2C Bus implementation.

Part Number: XEVMK2EX

Hello,

Why SoC I2C-0 and I2C-1 both are used to interface with PMBUS.

Thanks and Regards

Tarang Jindal

  • Hi Tarang,
The primary control for the SmartReflex CVDD voltage level on the K2E EVM is the VCNTL interface and not the PMBUS. When the board was develeped, the software to control the PMBUS had not been developed and the interface used had not been selected. Multiple connections were included to allow for flexibility.
Note that the I2C1 and the MCU I2C interfaces are connected to the PMBUS through the level converters. The I2C0 bus is connected to the MCU I2C through the level converter as well. I2C0 could communicate with the PMBUS through the chain of the two converters but that wasn't the original intent.
    Regards,
    Bill
