AM5728: USB 2.0 OTG ID

Part Number: AM5728

Hello,

We noticed that the ID pin on the USB 2.0 device port is pulled up on the IDK development kit.  Can TI confirm whether this is ok to do if it's only to be used strictly as a USB device port?  According to the USB spec, the ID pin is to only be grounded or left no connected.  (Unless TI decided to pull-up as a noise immunity measure... I can see why a pull-up would work in that case).  Anyway, please confirm if it's ok to pull-up the ID pin if the USB port is solely intended to be used as a device port.

Thank you.

  • Hi,

Please read section 24.7.2.2 from the AM572x TRM Rev. G. The AM572x USB peripheral does not have a dedicated ID pin, and this function is performed by a standard GPIO. For Device mode you need ether to pullup the pin externally or enable the internal pullup.
