AM5728: RTC feature

I have two questions for RTC feature on AM5728.

1. In Table 3-1 of datasheet, "RTC only mode is not supported feature." is described?
What does it mean? I never can use the RTC only mode?

2. The RTC is implemented on TMDSEVM572X and it seems that RTC in AM5728 is not used.
Why internal RTC is not used? Is there any condition to use internal RTC?

1. Yes, this is correct. RTC-only mode is not supported.
2. I will ask the EVM designers to comment.

We are not able to understand your second question. On the EVM the internal RTC is not used. An external RTC is used instead.

My customers want to know why the internal RTC is not used on the EVM and an external RTC is used instead.
They concern about the internal RTC whether there is critical issue.

The AM572x GP EVM was designed with focus on minimizing cost. The external RTC was added since RTC only mode was not supported by the processor. There was no reason add the cost of another crystal.
