AM3358: PASM 0.84 issue

Hi Support,

my customer is using PASM 0.84 for AM3358 and is facing issue with limited amount of lines for a macro definition. He is looking for a newer version without such a limitation (at least increased line amount for macro) and would appreciate same behavior as current 0.84.

Could you please help?

I don't think PASM is an officially supported tool. Nowadays CCS contains a PRU C compiler and related assembler. Did the customer try that already?

We also provide the TI code generation tools outside of CCS as a standalone download if the customer prefers to not use CCS (http://software-dl.ti.com/codegen/non-esd/downloads/download.htm#PRU). This includes a C compiler and an assembler (if they prefer to write assembly).

The PRU Software Support Package (https://git.ti.com/pru-software-support-package/pru-software-support-package/ ) includes Makefiles in the examples folder to give examples on how to build from make.

thanks for your feedbacks. Customer need the assembler only, so not C compiler. The PASM 0.84 they are using was provided by TI a couple of years ago. Can we provide a newer / updated version that does not have the macro limitation?

Alberto,

again, official tools are different now and include an assembler. This has slightly different syntax but I still suggest customers to move as soon as possible to new tools to get full support.
If they insist on old ones I assume they can go to the open source version here:
github.com/.../am335x_pru_package
The package includes a version 0.87 apparently but I don't know if it fixes the issue. But there are sources for PASM...
