Interfacing MT9T031

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SN74AVC16T245

I am trying to figure out the proper way to interface MT9P031 to DM355 processor. The micro has 3.3V I/O VCC where as MT9P031 has 2.8V I/O VCC. The datasheet for the sensor requires VINH to be <3.3V.  I could try connecting it directly just like it is done in LeopardImaging board LI-5M03 but I am worried about the input leakage current on the pins of the sensor. The input leakage current is given for Vin = Vcc=2.8V and I fear that applying higher that Vcc voltage may result in significant increase of the IINH which can be critical in battery powered applications. I am mostly concerned about the input pins on the sensor: output enable, clock, trigger, reset, and serial interface.

I posted that question to Aptina but so far no response yet.

    Hi Gennadiy Kiryukhin,

The MT9P031 from Aptina is just the "die", different sensor module manufactory makes different sensor output voltage; commonly, you need one level shift between MT9P031 with DM355.

We suggest our level shift SN74AVC16T245.

  • MT9P031 is not a "die". Aptina website shows that MT9P031 has iLCC package (die is available only for MT9P01x). In light of that, for what voltage outputs did you recommend the level shift? Was it 1.8V? Die has 1.8V I/Os.

For 2.8V sensor I/Os, don't we need the level shift for only five micron-to-sensor signals and not 16? How about I2C bus with a bidirectional DATA line?

    Thank you.
