AM5728: Bare metal examples in RTOS

Part Number: AM5728

Many example source files (just like "C:\ti\pdk_am57xx_1_0_5\packages\ti\drv\uart\example\sample\src\main_uart_example.c") have defines to be compiled for bare metal. If true, what are the steps to setup and build the related projects to run without the OS ?. Thanks.

Hi,

Please check processors.wiki.ti.com/.../Rebuilding_The_PDK

Inshort, you need:
- setup build env
- create CCS test
- import into CCS, build and run.

The question is not about how to build the examples, the question is how should I setup and build such projects for bare metal mode. Many examples seems to be ready to be compiled for bare metal (in fact, in the source code there are some defines that suggest it), but just defining BARE_METAL in the project doesn't seem be enough to get a bare metal working example.

For bare-metal project the driver examples are not the best examples to look as the source essentially contains both TI RTOS and bare-metal operation of drivers and it is not intuitive while reading the code.

For bare-metal development especially for control and serial drivers, I would recommend that you look at examples under diagnostics package or examples in the CSL folder.

Diagnostics package can be located here:
pdk_am57xx_x_x_x\packages\ti\board\diag

Note: Diagnostics examples are built to be run by defaultt from SD card so you need define Macro "PDK_RAW_BOOT" to test the examples over the emulator. Refer to the documentation for details.

CSL examples:
pdk_am57xx_x_x_x\packages\ti\csl\example

The build for both the examples is makefile based but the source is clean and doesn`t contain any RTOS specific code.
