PROCESSOR-SDK-AM335X: VDDSHVx power rails

Part Number: PROCESSOR-SDK-AM335X
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AM3358

I am designing a very basic single board computer using AM3358 processor. I made most of the connections and the only ones left are VDDSHV1-6 pins. I understood those pins are for peripherals. However in my board, I have the processor, a single chip DDR3 RAM and a micro sd card only and all of them are individually powered. I don't have any other peripheral attached. Do I still need to connect these pins? Thank you.

  • Yes, absolutely. VDDSHVx power rails supply the device I/O buffers. They should be connected to either 1.8V or 3.3V supply, depending on what I/O voltage you need on the respective pin. Look at Table 4-1 from the AM335x Datasheet Rev. J to check the VDDSHVx domain for each I/O pin.
