C6000 high speed communication with C2000

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMDSDOCK28379D

Hello,

I have two questions regarding comunication options with our multicore DSPs.

What other alternatives can you recommend for a very fast (little data, low latency) communication between a C2000 MCU and a C6000 Keystone Multicore DSP:

Current idea: C2000 <----- uPP -----> C6657

What other possibilities do we have?

Which C6000 eval kits can you recommend when using uPP?

Thanks,

Peter

  • Hi Peter,

I've forwarded this to the design team. Their feedback should be posted here.

  • Hi Peter
It would be good to provide some more details on what is meant by very fast - what is the data rate and what are the latency requirements?

In general you are right , i think if you are looking at a c2000 device like Delfino family - which has uPP on it - it is a good way to interface to c665x family.

Do note that on c6000 devices only C665x and C6748 family has uPP - so if there are plans to have more c6000 dsp , uPP may not be something that works across all C6000. uPP is also more pins etc.

The other interface is McBSP. These are likely your choices.

We are not familiar on what would be the right dev platform from c2000, i do know they have upp examples in control suite

On C6657 , i believe the EVM does bring out the UPP on the 80 pin header , you can find the details here
    www.einfochips.com/.../

However, I do not think we have a good software offering around uPP from c6000 side in the SDK.

The only solution currently available is with C6748 using Critical Link device driver. This was created for the MityDSP Software define radio and machine vision solution.

    www.ti.com/.../watch.tsp

In general if uPP is the right peripheral , Critical Link maybe a good 3P to work for any custom hardware and software development for uPP.

    Hope this helps.

  • got some pointers from c2000 team on their evaluation platform story

The examples we have is not specific to any EVM but just to show TX/RX configuration for basic transfers. To run the example, user need to connect two Soprano via uPP.

We have experimental kit (TMDSDOCK28379D) to access uPP pins but customer has to wire the pins because these pins are not available on any specific connectors.
