I design frame grabber board which transfer frame from my FPGA to gigaEthernet PHY using AM4376 controller.

Question : which maximum throughput MB/s can I get on my Ethernet cable ?

I am using synchronous GPMC bus between FPGA and AM4376 .

Which protocol to use UDP/TCPIP for maximum speed and also which operating system ?

I see report from TI on LINUX and TCPIP which give about 330 MB/S using AM437xx but I need better performance.

Hi,

For the throughput, please check this link: processors.wiki.ti.com/.../Processor_SDK_Linux_Kernel_Performance_Guide

With TCP/IP, the TH is about 300-360Mb/s. With UDP, the TH achiev1es 566Mb/s with 1470bytes payload. For Linux system, there is application like iperf that can be easily used to benchmark performance.

What is your TH requirement? There may be some tunings to improve it.

What about performance with RTOS operating system.Which speed we get in UDP anf TCPIP ?

Hi,

The RTOS example is a NIMU example, it doesn't have any application run on top of it for throughput measurement. So we don't have any official number for it. There is some discussion for porting TFTP service on AM57x and measure the throughput, you may refer to it: https://e2e.ti.com/support/arm/sitara_arm/f/791/p/499896/1988794#1988794
