66AK2H14: Observation Clock pins

Part Number: 66AK2H14

In the EVM design it has the following pins mapped to test points for observation clocks, but the 66AK2h14 document (SPRS866E) says these are reserved and should be left unconnected.  Is there any reason to not connect these to test points on a custom board like the EVM does?  If we could probe at the clocks at these test points it would make life a bit easier.

  • Hi Anthony,

    Yes, on the EVM those balls are connected to test points. However, if you look at the EVM Technical Reference Manual, Table 3.27 : EVM Board Test Points, you'll see that all those test points are marked as RESERVED.

    For example:
    A24 <-> TP46 --> RESERVED
    B24 <-> TP47 --> RESERVED
    AP38 <->TP53 --> RESERVED

    So the EVM basically complies with Data Manual recommendations.

    Best Regards,
    Yordan
