DM365 - HDMI to LVDS output

TI has DM365 chip & Z3 makes a module using this chip. The video output on this module is HDMI format but the display we have needs LVDS input. Is there any app note which suggests how to do it. Any suggestion? I have posted this on Hi Speed Interface forum as well

Hi Himanshu,

What is the output you are looking for? 1080i60 or 1080P60? If it is 1080i60, DM365 itself can do it directly thorugh the HDDAC on-chip.

BTW, did you try checking with Z3 about the HDMI Xmt that they use and does it support LVDS output in someway? I am not aware of the parts they use outside DM365.

DM365 output is 480p @ 30 fps. Can on chip HDDAC be used for that?

I dont think we have the driver support for this but looking at the hardware spec, it should be possible.

The simplest way is to use a TFP401A and an LVDS83B to convert from DVI to LVDS.

Depending on the format of your LVDS LCD you will simply need to connect the H, V and DE outputs from the TFP401 to the corresponding LVDS83B inputs, and select the correct color assignemts.

Alternatively, it may be possible to connect an LVDS83B directly to the Z3 board through some expansion connectors. Unfortunately I do not know anything about the Z3 board so cannot comment more.

Either way though you will either need to design your own PCB or purchase a solution from Z3.
