AM5728: OPP usage

Part Number: AM5728

Hi,

I have question how to use OPP for AM5728.

Q1: Can I use VDD_MPU as OPP_NOM and VDD_DSP as OPP_HIGH?

Q2: If Q1 is possible, which one is applied in Table 5-3 POH?

Best regards,
H.U

  • Hi,

I will ask the TRM team to clarify. They will respond here.
  • Hi,

Have a look at Section 5.5 Operating Performance Points of AM5728 Data Manual. It describes the OPP usage in the device. Table 5-7. Voltage Domains Operating Performance Points shows the voltages required for achieving each of the device OPPs. Take special attention to Note (5) bellow the table:
    (5) The AVS voltages are device-dependent, voltage domain-dependent, and OPP-dependent. They must be read from the
STD_FUSE_OPP. For information about STD_FUSE_OPP Registers address, please refer to Control Module Section of the TRM. The
power supply should be adjustable over the following ranges for each required OPP:
    – OPP_NOM for MPU: 0.85 V – 1.15 V
    – OPP_NOM for CORE and Others: 0.85 V - 1.15 V
    – OPP_OD: 0.885 V - 1.15 V
    – OPP_HIGH: 0.95 V - 1.25 V
The AVS voltages will be within the above specified ranges.

AVS is required for vdd_core, vdd_mpu, vdd_ivahd, vdd_dspeve and vdd_gpu for all available OPPs.

  • Hi Yordan,

    Thank you for your reply.

I understood that I can use different OPP for each voltage domain.
If any domain is using OPP_HIGH, Should POH apply the condition of OPP_HIGH? So, I would like to clarify the above Q2.

    Best regards,
    H.U

  • Hi,

    Apologies for the delayed reply.

If any domain is using OPP_HIGH, Should POH apply the condition of OPP_HIGH?

Yes, my understanding is the same. If OPP = OPP_HIGH, then POH=65k.

    Best Regards,
    Yordan
  • Yordan,

Is AVS required if customer does not plan to use different OPPs?  Plan is to run at full speed 100% of time.

    Thanks.
    Marc

  • Hi Marc,

    Apologies for the late reply.

I think you should manage to run your board without AVS, if you plan to use only one fixed opp.. However, this will increase your power consumption and lower the device POH.

    Yordan
