AM5726: Power supply design

Part Number: AM5726

Hi,

Our customer does not use the following modules.
1.DSPEVE
2.GPU
3.IVA

Which following methods should their circuit be designed by?
It uses Capacitor for a power supply of VDD_DSPEVE,VDD_GPU,VDD_IVA like EVM.
It connects a desired power supply from PMIC directly without using Capacitor.

Please tell me the document which the capacity of the capacitor to be necessary for each power supply writes in AM5726.
It does not seem to be defined to a data sheet of AM57xx.
There is a mention of 5.9.1 Voltage Decoupling Capacitors to the data sheet of AM335x.

  • Hi,

Please follow the guidelines given here: processors.wiki.ti.com/.../AM57xx_Schematic_Checklist
Also make sure you check sections 8.1 and 8.4 from the AM572x Datasheet SR2.0 Rev. B.
  • Hi Biser,

    Thank you for quick reply.
Because it is not written in them, I ask you a question.
    Is there other information?

    Best Regards,

  • 8.4 Power Distribution Network Implementation Guidance

The Power Distribution Network Implementation Guidelines Application Report (SPRABY8) available from www.ti.com/.../spraby8 provides guidance for successful implementation of the power distribution network. This includes PCB stackup guidance as well as guidance for optimizing the selection and placement of the decoupling capacitors. TI supports only designs that follow the board design guidelines
    contained in the application report.
  • Hi Biser,

Thank you for your quick reply.
I understood the usage of the decoupling capacitors with each power supply of AM572x.

How is the answer to following questions?

  • 8.1 Power Supply Mapping
    ......
It is possible that some voltage domains on the device are unused in some systems. In such cases, to ensure device reliability, it is still required that the supply pins for the specific voltage domains are connected to some core power supply output.

These unused supplies though can be combined with any of the core supplies that are used (active) in the system. e.g. if IVA and GPU domains are not used, they can be combined with the CORE domain, thereby having a single power supply driving the combined CORE, IVA and GPU domains.

For the combined rail, the following relaxations do apply:
    • The AVS voltage of active rail in the combined rail needs to be used to set the power supply
    • The decoupling capacitance should be set according to the active rail in the combined rail
