Linux/AM5728: OpenCL examples on Processor SDK 3.02 hang if run 2nd time

Hi,

We are running the latest Processor SDK for AM5728, version 3.02, and playing with OpenCL examples. Somehow, although things were looking fine for a few runs, we are observing that whenever we run an OpenCL example (from /usr/share/ti/examples/opencl) for the 1st time after boot, they seem to run fine, but 2nd time freezes the board, and we have to do a hard restart! Since the PSDK doesn't seem to preserve any logs, we don't know how to proceed with the debug of this issue either!

Any suggestions on how to trace this issue will help.

Hi,

Do you see this problem with any particular examples from /usr/share/ti/examples/opencl, or all of them have the same behavior? I will try to reproduce the issue on my side.

Have you tested the opencl examples from the Matrix Gui? Do you see the same behavior?

Hi Yordan,

We see this mostly with "simple" example in the OpenCL examples list, and it isn't 100% reproducible. The "linalg" examples, for example, seem to run fine.

If there was a way to preserve the logs through reboots, we could really do a deep dive and help you with more information. Can you share any such methods?

Can you please help us understand how to maintain/recover logs on PSDK across hard resets, so that we can track and file DSP issues properly?

BTW, I tested the scripts in /usr/share/ti/examples/opencl on my AM57xx GP EVM and was not able to get them to freeze the board...
Can you share the steps for reproducing your problem? I use the prebuilt binaries.

Hi Yordan,

Unfortunately, it seems that the issue crops up entirely at random, and even we can't reproduce it at will. Sometimes even the matrix GUI doesn't start at boot, and has to be manually started. On other times, it does.

Can you please help us have something like "syslog/kern.log" that survives reboots/hard resets for us to trace back when things go wrong? I'll close the thread then, till we can reliably give you debugging data.
