GenServer support for BIOS6.0

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: OMAP3530, SYSBIOS

I have a customer developing OMAP3530 application using BIOS6 and CCS4

The GenServer documentation on the wiki indicates that it generates BIOS 5.31 compatible code. Is there a date for the GenServer tool to generate BIOS6 compatible code? What is the recommended path for developing a custom server today for someone who will be using BIOS6?

  • The 'suitable for external forums' reply is:

We don't yet have 'remote' Codec Engine support for BIOS 6-based systems.  We're planning to support that in a future Codec Engine 3.x release stream that's currently under development.

The 'suitable for internal forums' reply (with my tongue firmly in cheek, as I know this is an external forum!), is:

BIOS 6 'remote' Codec Engine implies the new SysLink-based stack (SysLink is the next gen of DSP Link) that's still under development.  Although we have internal EAs available on OMAP3, we won't have a OMAP3/BIOS6/SysLink/CE GA release for the mass market until [likely] Q1 2011.

So what options do they have _right now_?  Frankly, I'm not even sure DSP Link supports BIOS 6 on OMAP3 (does it?).  So I'm not sure they have much choice other than to use BIOS 5 and existing CE 2.x releases based on DSP Link 1.6x.  Or create their own IPC (or port DSP Link 1.6!) to work between the ARM and BIOS 6-based DSP themselves, and not use Codec Engine.

  • Hi,experts

in the codec engine3.21 I can't find *.tcf  file is used  to configure the DSP/Bios, why?  refer to server intergate.pdf ,but I can't find the *. tcf  file in codec engine3.21,how can i do ?

thank you !! need your help!

  • Shawn,

Codec Engine (CE) 3.x use Sysbios 6.x which use *.cfg files.  Codec Engine 2.x DSP/BIOS 5.x which use *.tcf file.  Depending on the device your are using, you may have to choose one or the other.  In some cases, both DSP/BIOS and Sysbios are supported.

Info on Sysbios and DSP/BIOS can be found:

  • thanks!

Are there some examples that  how to development of sys/bios based on EVM8168?

My first exposure codec engine, do not know how to develop, especially configured sys / bios part, and how to generate a server, these example, thank you very much!
