AM3358: USB0 or USB1 for high data throughput

I am working on a design using the AM3358BZCZA100 and I am planning to use USB1 in host mode connected to a 4 port hub.  One of the devices connected to that hub will be an embedded high throughput cell modem.  USB0 may be used for OTG USB via a mini B.  Now, the reason for my question is because I have heard that there may be issues with the Sitara's USB ports?  And there may even be a difference between USB0 and USB1?  I have reviewed the tech reference manual and I don't see any differences.  One WiFi module vendor warned about using USB at all to connect to their device based on previous customer issues.  Also, I heard that DMA is disabled on the USB ports by default on the Beagle Bone Black?  This design is still being formulated, but if there is any merit to these concerns, please let me know, thanks!

    The two usb controllers on am335x have no difference.
    USB WIFI is an tricky USB application. If the WIFI module vendor warned you based on previous experience, you'd better listen, carefully evaluating the USB option with other solutions.
    I don't know which sw package you mentioned on Beagle Bone Black, but the TI Processor Linux SDK for AM335x has DMA enabled for MUSB.
    What is your USB throughtput requirement?
  • The previous customer issues reported by the modem vendor may very well be EMI/RF related. High-Speed USB is only 400mV signaling  with a data rate that can be a harmonic of cellular data rates. This can cause problems if the topology/PCB design is not extremely well shielded.
