TMS Silicon vs. TMX for 'c5515 eZdsp

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMS320C5515

Hello All,

Anyone know when TMS silicon will ship on the 'c5515 eZdsp board?

Thanks,
John W.

  • Hi John,

We expect TMS silicon on the C5515 eZdsp in about 6 months. As soon as inventory of the TMX silicon is depleted.

    Regards,
    Mark

  • Hello Mark,

One can extrapolate many things from your reply.

Does that mean the TMX320C5515 is functionally equivalent to the TMS320C5515?

Is it possible to get an updated errata pdf that specifically addresses the (TMX)'c5515?

Is is possible to get an update to the following:  SPRU652G - The 'CC5x Programmer's Reference Supplement?  In this document, there are numerous CPU Advisories that could apply - be nice to know what does apply and what doesn't apply because some of the workarounds/issues are somewhat significant.

    The URL is http://focus.ti.com/lit/ug/spru652g/spru652g.pdf

    Thanks,

  • Hello,

Let me clarify this a bit. There's no difference between the TMX and TMS silicon. TMX is available before we finish the reliability tests on the silicon and use it first for the EVMs and eZdsp tools. From the silicon wise, there's no difference between TMX and TMS silicon except the marking.

The next batch of eZdsp5515 and EVM5515 will use TMS silicon as we don't want to scrap the existing inventory of the tools.

If you'r looking for TMS silicon, that's in stock and can get 2-5 free samples from C5515 product folder. For larger qty's, pl contact you disty or TI sales rep. For some reason, the TI website shows 0 inventory at the Disty's but that's glitch and we'r working on fixing it.

If your looking for a tool with TMS, that'd take some time like Mark mentioned here. But, we believe you don't need to wait for a tool with TMS silicon.

    Hope that helps,

  • Hello Srik,

    Thanks for your response.

Quote, " But, we believe you don't need to wait for a tool with TMS silicon." - You mean, TMX is OK - correct?

I have asked Spectrum Digital what silicon they have on the eZdsp and EVM - both are TMX.

I have ordered a sample - but am finding it a bit of a challenge to get a board house just to do a job of 1.

    Thanks,
    john w.

  • John,

" But, we believe you don't need to wait for a tool with TMS silicon." - You mean, TMX is OK - correct?
    [Srik-TI]:   Correct.

I have asked Spectrum Digital what silicon they have on the eZdsp and EVM - both are TMX.

[Srik-TI]:  Aligns with what I posted above. :-)

I have ordered a sample - but am finding it a bit of a challenge to get a board house just to do a job of 1.

[Srik-TI]:  This is meant for initial protos. You can request upto 5 samples. We see a lot of customers everyday requesting 2-3 samples for this purpose. If you need more for the next proto stage, you can definitely order these from the Disty's.. Pl contact your TI sales rep or the Disty rep. We'll fix the disty inventory issue on the web.

Happy developing with the industry's lowest power DSP! :-)

    Thanks,

  • OK Srik - Thanks,
