Information regarding Android Automotive support and SoCs.

Hi!

I’m from an Automaker Engineering team.

I'm investigating SoCs compatible with Android Automotive in the market.

Can you give me information about:

  1. Catalog of all your current SoCs for automotive industry (please indicate the ones with support to Android Automotive).
  2. Regarding SoCs with support to Android Automotive, does TI plan to support with BSP (board support package), kernel, drivers etc for 3 years plus. (considering Android Automotive OS updates)

Thanks in advance.

  • Hi Rodrigo,

About your first question you can check here (Android is supported on all DRAx processors):
    www.ti.com/.../overview.page
and also look in the pages for each of the processors for more details, technical documents etc.
You can check also this page to compare the processors:
    www.ti.com/.../compare

About question 2. I have pinged an expert to comment about support schedules.

    Regards,
    Yordan
  • Hello Rodrigo, as pointed by Yordan, the Jacinto 6 family is supported for Automotive and has support for Android.

TI maintains support for Android and provides the SW for evaluation and development. See here: http://www.ti.com/tool/processor-sdk-dra7x

In addition to providing support for stock android, TI Android Software Development Kit includes integration of SoC accelerators for performance improvement and automotive features/optimizations such as early KPI, robustness features for rear view camera and integration of capabilities for implementation of systems right from entry level to fully integrated cockpit. There are additional add-on packages for specialized capabilities such as software defined radio, secure system implementation etc.

TI SW is backed by engineering support to ensure the customer system development and deployment goes smoothly. May I suggest you reach out to your local TI representative for details on roadmap, additional packages and support strategy.

    Cheers,

    Gagan

  • Hi Gagan,

    Thank you for the info!

And if possible please share with me the contact of TI representative, my company is investigating potential SoC suppliers for an infotainment project. Also if possible, send me the contact of a sales rep. as well, I'd like to discuss volume and costs, but privately.

    Thanks for your support again!
