AM3352: GPMC interface to FPGA and NOR

Hi,

We would like to know if it is possible to share AM3352's GPMC for both FPGA and Flash.

Sharing Devices:
1.FPGA： Multiplexed 16b NOR type - Synchronous
2.FlashROM： Non Multiplexed 16b NOR type - Asynchronous

We are confused in using Pinmux tools to select GPMC for this usage,
Please let me know if there is any reference PinMUX settings when sharing GPMC
and if there is anything else to be taken care to avoid conflicts in future design.

Hi,

There are no ready GPMC IOsets in the Pinmux tool for your use case. You must choose the required pins manually.

Depends on what you want to use the NOR for. If you want to execute code directly from NOR (XIP mode), this will consume almost completely the GPMC bandwidth.

NOR is not used in XIP mode.
Looking into the manual we think the connection between GPMC would
look like this...please let me know if this kind of usage is allowed.

Yes, it's possible. I would suggest that you request a schematic review from TI when you complete the schematic.

With regards to the above question about sharing GPMC for FPGA and NOR Flash,
Our customer seems to use NOR in XIP mode.
If we want to execute code directly from (NOR XIP), will it be a wrong
idea to connect FPGA also to the GPMC?

It depends on what throughput you will require from the FPGA, but offhand I would say that there will be problems.
