Hi, Everyone

I have a question about Ethernet/IP of ISDK/ProcesserSDK for AM335x.

My customer want to use Ethernet/IP daigy chain for Adapter.

I understand ISDK/ProcesserSDK support this connection.
This understanding is correct?

and My customer told me they want to use RGMII pin (not PRU pin).
Is it possible to develop as adapter ?
I think it is not possible. They should use pru_xx pins.
This understanding is correct ?

Yes, DLR is supported in ISDK Ethernet/IP on AM335x, see

This depends on the type of industrial Ethernet, as well if this is a master or slave device Yes for: EtherCAT master, Profinet RT (conformance class A), EtherNet /IP (with constrains) No for: Profinet RT/IRT (conformance class B/C), Sercos III, EtherNet/IP, PowerLink, EtherCAT slave. Those require PRU-ICSS with the use of the dedicated PRU MIIs.

If customer use RGMII of MII, Does TI provide Software ?
I do not see in ISDK.

Hiroyasu,

As you can see from ISDK, we don't provide GMII based Ethernet/IP. Any specific reason customer wants to drop existing PRU-ICSS solution?

O.K. Customer told me this reason why pinmux.
I will ask more detail.

and my customer mention they want daigy chain (not DLR)
It means one way (not ring) as I draw a picure on first post.

Is daigy chain included by ISDK ?

Hiroyasu,

Yes, Ethernet/IP supports the daisy chain (linear) topology you described.
The ring topology actually becomes the linear topology when DLR supervisor detects fault/link failure in the network to support more demanding industrial application.

If Master enable DLR, ISDK firmware automatically enable DLR?

Does user need any command or API on Application layer ?

Hi Hiroyasu,

DLR is initialized using the API initDLR() and started with the API call startDLR(). A call to the API stopDLR() disables DLR feature in the firmware. Initialization needs to be done only on startup. DLR can be enabled and disabled at runtime.

The IP address for DLR node is configured through the API addDLRModuleIPAddress(uint32_t ipAddress). Developer needs to call this once an IP address has been acquired or else DLR frames will not carry an IP address.
