CCS/TMS320C6748: Trouble with starting the development using TMS320C6748

Hi,

I new to DSP and learning to work with TMS320C6748, I followed all the steps given to run demo. But after setting the baud rate in tera term, and powering the board Iam not getting any message on the console as it's shown in the instructions.

I even tried to connect it to through CCS but there also getting some errors connecting the board, I think this is because iam not using any emulator.

My questions are :

1. Do I need emulators to run demos through TeraTerm.

2. To work in CCS I need emulator, which ones will work with TMS320C7648, or which emulator is good.

3. To work on CCS using emulator can anyone provide the steps. ( I searched on YouTube/ web but I didn't find any detailed explanation.)

It would be of great help if I could get any help in this...

Are you using the C6748 LCDK platform for your tests . also, are the instructions that you mentioned from Quick start guide included in the kit.

the board manufacturer flashes demos in the NAND provide in the LCDK so as long as you make the hardware connections and set the boot switches correctly, you should see the out of the box demo come up. If it doesn`t come up then check the boot switches and ensure they are set to boot from NAND.

For developing code, you do require CCS and C6000 compiler (included with CCS). You can also use a supported SDK like MCSDK or Starterware to get started.

Instructions to connect to the LCDK using an emulator are provided here:

You can follow the instructions for C6000 device which are created for the C6748 LCDK to get started.
