Hello,

my CCS is 7.0.0.000043 .Compiler TI v16.9.0.LTS.

My computer OS is Windows 10 64 bits.

I try to do installation for Vision SDK(v02.12.00). I must use Linux version or its possible using windows version of Vision SDK.

1. I want to see/try examples

2. The next stage is porting ADAS Algorithm from Microsoft VS to TI embedded (TD2x evaluation board) - I need Linux OS I think.

Hello Sofia,

Yes, you can use the windows version of Vision SDK to try a few example use cases on Windows OS. After the installation, please refer to the index page in the main folder which lists all available docs. After setting up the initial stuff, see "Surround View User (SRV) Guides" for some example use cases that you may try.

Edit1: Please ignore below. For using Linux on Target/EVM you need to use linux installer as tools needed to build VSDK Linux are not available on Windows host.

You should use windows version of installer (.exe file) as your OS is windows.
Both vision sdk installers have same content. You can access examples, use-cases once installation is done in examples/ folder of VSDK.

About Target(TDA2x) OS you will have access to contents both VSDK BIOS and VSDK Linux in the package. It would not differ depending on installer.
Refer to VSDK user guides for more details.

Hi Sofia,

there are two variants of the Vision SDK:
1. Linux running on A15 and SYSBIOS running on all other cores (DSP, EVE, IPU) - if you want to use this you need Linux installer
2. SYSBIOS running on all cores (incl. A15) - you can use Windows installer for that.

When you install the VisionSDK you can look in the following documents:

<VisionSDK_install_dir>\vision_sdk\docs\UserGuides\UserGuides\VisionSDK_UserGuide_TDA2xx.pdf

for introduction how to build the sdk and run examples.

Then you can check following documents:

<VisionSDK_install_dir>\vision_sdk\docs\Architecture\VisionSDK_SW_Architecture_Overview.pdf
<VisionSDK_install_dir>\vision_sdk\docs\Architecture\VisionSDK_SW_Architecture_Details.pdf
<VisionSDK_install_dir>\vision_sdk\docs\FeatureSpecificUserGuides\VisionSDK_DevelopmentGuide.pdf

to get familiar with links, chains and VisionSDK development process which might help you when you start
to port your algorithm (under <VisionSDK_install_dir>\vision_sdk\docs\ there are a lot of other documents
that might be useful).

Please ignore my answer. Though contents of VSDK are same for linux and windows installer, the VSDK linux build is not supported on Windows due to tools dependency.

Hi Sofia,

yes, you need Linux OS (native or in virtual machine) to use linux installer.
I think that to use OpenCV you will need linux, because the compiler for OpenCL kernels
has only linux version.
There are some OpenCV example usecases with Windows installer, that you can
try, but I am not sure that you will be able to do any significant changes to them.

An additional I need support for GPU(Graphics Processing Unit) and drivers for cameras with synchronization, same for TI ADAS example.

Hi Sofia,

there are several example usecases for camera -> display included in vision sdk, you cal look at them.
Yes, you can use the version of CSS for linux.

Absolutely, CCS is Eclipse based so it will run on Linux as well no problem.

There is no real advantage/disadvantage using Windows vs Linux SDK. It really depends on what you want to achieve. I am going to quote a previous statement here:

1. Linux running on A15 and SYSBIOS running on all other cores (DSP, EVE, IPU) - if you want to use this you need Linux installer -> Therefore Linux OS
2. SYSBIOS running on all cores (incl. A15) - you can use Windows installer for that. -> Therefore Windows OS.
