Linux/AM3358: Reading a digital tachometer output

Part Number: AM3358

Tool/software: Linux

We would like to be able to read and display the actual RPM of the fan.  But, more importantly be able to use a some time / counter to post an interrupt when the fan's speed is out of tolerance (either to slow or too fast).   We currently have the fan tach output pulled up to 3.3v and connected to a Timer7 input.  Is there a better way of doing this?

Thanks again my TI friends!

Best Regards,

Brian Weir
