TMDXIDK5728: LCD remains black

Part Number: TMDXIDK5728

Hello,

I am working with the AM572x IDK dev board. I have mounted the screen and connected the cables in accordance to the quick start guide. I have powered up the dev board and connected to it via the serial port and attempted to run the LCD test. The process hangs and the LCD doesn't light up or respond.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

  • Hi,

What software are you trying to boot? Check these threads, which discuss similar problems:

  • Hello Biser,

I am trying to boot the software on the SD card that came with the development kit pre-loaded.

Unfortunately I have done the same steps as they have and have had no results. Also in those two thread there is still no resolution to their problems. I have reset the cables multiple times.

    Thanks!
  • Archer,

E2E threads that help debug hardware or software issues are often left without closure.  The customer having the difficulty often finds the issue and then does not continue posting to the thread.  We very much appreciate when they do post the final resolution found.

The other 2 threads contain several recommendations for debugging.  You need to go through these steps and report the same information.  Please post the complete Linux boot log.  Also, do you get any output on the HDMI display?

  • Thank you manisha. Unfortunately this did not help. It has something to do with a software issue that came with the dev kit. Still trying to find the solution.
  • Tom,

Thank you and I appreciate the response.

I think one of the reasons why customers stop posting is there is no good way to keep track of the posts they have made. E.x the only way I found this post again was after Manisha posted to the post and it alerted me. In my account my activity is broken at times and only shows my last posting. Also in my account there is no way for me to see a list of the current posts I have opened. With this setup I don't think TI should have any expectation of the ability for someone to effectively be able to track their open posts/threads. This is unfortunate as it makes everyones job harder, yours trying to get solutions to customers and mine trying to work effectively.

I have written this to customer support but they don't really care, also the forum is broken in the chrome browser but that's a whole different story they don't care about either.

On the LCD matter I did do the things in the post and replied to Biser. The key here is I am booting the SD that came with the EVM and the process hangs during the LCD test and the LCD doesn't light up or respond. I don't get a boot log output on the terminal. all I get is this:

  • Which version of PSDK are you using? Is it Linux or RTOS SDK?

I can comment on PLSDK (Processors Linux SDK). If you are using RTOS, I can share your post with RTOS software expert for his comment.

With PLSDK, there is no issues with the software. Right dtb file is picked up at the boot time and no manual configuration or any other changes required to use LCD. Only improper LCD or touch cable connections can cause LCD not to boot. You can try flashing the SD card with latest revision of the software that can be downloaded from here -
