TMS320VC5409A: difference between the TMS320VC5409APGE16 AA and the TMS320VC5409APGE CB

Part Number: TMS320VC5409A

Hy all,

I would like to know the difference between the TMS320VC5409APGE16 AA and the TMS320VC5409APGE CB
Thank you for your help

  • Hi Samir,

I've forwarded this to the design experts. Their feedback should be posted here.

  • Hi Samir,

What are the exact package markings of the two devices? I will try to look them up.

    TMS320VC5409APGE16 AA
        - PGE package
        - I would have expected the lot trace code to be CA instead of AA, but this likely indicates silicon revision A

    TMS320VC5409APGE CB
        - also PGE package
        - I would have expected a number like 16 or 12 to come after PGE
        - CB likely indicates silicon revision B

Refer to a footnote in the PACKAGING INFORMATION section of the TMS320VC5409A datasheet:
    (4) There may be additional marking, which relates to the logo, the lot trace code information, or the environmental category on the device.

Refer to Figure 1. Example, Typical Lot Trace Code for TMS320VC5409A DSP (PGE) and Figure 2. Example, Typical Lot Trace Code for TMS320VC5409A DSP (GGU) in the TMS320VC5409A Digital Signal Processor Silicon Errata (SPRZ186C)

You may find the Device ID Register valuable: Device ID Register (CSIDR) [MMR Address 003Eh]
Refer to 3.14 Device ID Register in the errata

I am honestly not certain what are the differences between silicon revision A and B. The Errata shows differences between initial silicon and all other revisions, but it is not clear what changed from A to B.

    Hope this helps,
    Mark
