AM3517: Compatibility with 2xMT47H512M8

can you confirm if AM3517 can work with 2 chips of MT47H512M8? This is a 512MB DDR2 SDRAM from Micron with the following configuration.

Customer wants to use 2 chips of these to totalize 1GB of memory.

Hi Raul,

Compatible DDR2 devices are described in section 6.4.2.2.2 of the AM35X Datasheet Rev. F. 8-bit DDR2 memories are not supported.

Hi Biser,

So is the LPDDR MT46H256M32L4LE-48 WT compatible? I check and in my opinion this memory supports all requirements. I intend to use this memory.

This datasheet is about:
MT46H128M16LF – 32 Meg x 16 x 4 Banks
MT46H64M32LF – 16 Meg x 32 x 4 Banks

I don't see MT46H256M32 mentioned there.

This PN: MT46H256M32 Only appears in section Part Numbering

So the characteristics of the PN MT46H256M32 are the same of the MT46H64M32 (exception of the depth).

I think you should check with the memory vendor if this is a single-die or double-die memory. If it's a double-die (two chip-selects) it won't be supported.

I dont get it. I found in the micron site a LPDDR that is madded to OMAP processor for TI.

And I would like to know, why I cannot use double-die (two chip-select) memory in AM3517(TI-OMAP)?

Because in Micron document, say the opposite.

See Figure 6-18 in the datasheet. CS1 is not used when connecting 1x32-bit device. These multi-die devices exceed the load on the data lines that the AM35X SDRC can handle.

I have confirmation from the factory that only single rank (i.e. single-die) memories are supported by AM35X devices.

From what I have checked there are no 8Gbit LPDDR or DDR2 single-die parts in x16 or x32 configurations.
