Hi All,

As per spruhz7e.pdf, AM571x processor USB port1 is capable of SuperSpeeds upto 5Gbps but on the tmdxidk5718 development kit it has support for USB 2.1 as master only, please help me explain why USB3.0 capability is not provided on tmdxidk5718 EVM.

This device has a shared-PHY subsystem in which SuperSpeed USB and PCIe1 share the same signal pins via an internal mux. As the TMDXIDK5718 board implements a PCIe x4 connector with 2-lanes of PCIe, the SuperSpeed USB signals are not available.

Please refer to Section 26.4.1 of the TRM for more details. Figure 26-15 illustrates this further.

If PCIe interface is not connected then we can use the full capability of USB 3.0, thanks for information.

If you are asking about the AM5718 processor itself, the answer is yes. This part supports simultaneous operation of PCIe (1-lane) and SuperSpeed USB.

If you are asking about the IDK board, the answer is no. This board was not designed to support SuperSpeed USB operation.
