Hi there,

I am using OMAP-L138 device and currently using NAND Flash to boot DSP application and all seems to work fine. However, Now I would like to add Linux on ARM core but would like to still use the Linux boot from SD card that came with the OMAPL138 LCDK kit.

In the DSP boot procedure, I am using the primary boot to wake DSP from ARM core and then using the secondary bootloader to load DSP Application. But how can I switch to run Linux on ARM instead of just running an application to wake up DSP? Thanks.

Mitesh,

Usually we recommend that you use IPC/syslink in the Linux environment to load the DSP using an dsp image stored on filesystem image(UBIFS) running from NAND.

You may also be interested in the options that are discussed here of loading DSP from u-boot:

Hi Rahul,

Could you please give me more information about the IPC/SYSLINK to boot DSP application from NAND.

So would this involve changing u-boot?

would this boot Linux first and then DSP?

What I would like to do is as follows:

like to use u-boot, to boot ARM with Linux and as a initial step boot DSP as well.

I was under the impress that the SYSLINK is mainly used just for the inter-processor communication and not for boot purposes.

SYSLINK is designed for Linux and IPC is similar thing designed for DSP chip to run using SYS-BIOS.

One more thing regarding the u-boot, do you have the source file of it? I don't seem to have the u-boot that comes with the OMAPLCDK board. thanks.

MCSDK for OMAPL138 LCDK provides the TI source for Uboot and syslink that you are looking for

for the DSP QUICK start that I refered to in my previous post is implemented using Das port of Uboot which is provided here:
support.criticallink.com/.../Das_U-Boot_Port

This is last released software that had IPC support using SYSLINK. We plan to update the software for this device to have IPC/remoteproc based support for this platform in 2Q17 time frame.

ARM on this device is the boot master so ARM always boots first and will load uboot and Linux then, you can run the app that will load the DSP using syslink. this will require you to wait till linux is booted up so is not close to your usecase.

Your understanding is correct, SYSLINK is designed for Linux and requires IPC to be running on the DSP using SYS-BIOS.

Note the Das uboot port is created for mityDSP and not for LCDK so you can only use the DSP bring up code for reference when using with LCDK.
