Dear TI'er
DRA746 support USB2.0 OTG. TPD3S714-Q1 is USB 2.0 Interface Protection.
Does the use of TPD3S714-Q1 in circuit design affect DRA746 USB OTG switching function?

Hi,
Firstly I would like to pay attention on the OTG support. DRA74x is not supporting dynamic role switching (OTG protocols). It can support micro-AB connectors where role is dependent on cable's ID pin. Or, so called Dual-Role-Mode.

I think the protection IC was developed with a host system in mind (A-connector). From the datasheet: "... in automotive USB hubs, head units, rear seat entertainment, telematics, and media interface applications."
However, if you really need A-B connector, still you can take a VBUS-sense from the VBUS connector side, close to the protection IC. Or, you can use additional ESD protective diode on the VBUS connector.
