Linux/AM3351: Minimum memory footprint

Part Number: AM3351

Tool/software: Linux

Hello
I have a customer looking to design a low cost System based on the AM3351 where they need to run Linux / RT-Linux to re-use applications from other projects.
They are asking what would be the minimum Memory (DDR / SRAM) footprint they would require.

They don't need display drivers or even Linux / WiFi drivers but would like to know what sort of memory they would require - for cost estimate exercises.

Is this something you could help with

Many Thanks
Bob Bacon

  • Hi Bob Bacon,

Ideally Linux can boot with very low RAM/Memory foot print. Based on configurations, It can boot with as low as 32MB or even lesser.
But with such low memory, device may not be very useful to run complex applications.

It is recommended to determine the memory size requirements based on the use case requirements.

    Thanks
