Hello everyone,

I have an issue to connect to my GPEVM572x using an XDS200 and code composer V7.

When I push the connect button on the CortexA15_0, the Console display an error.

CS_DAP_DebugSS: GEL: Error while executing OnTargetConnect(): Target failed to read 0x80031804@APB_View

What does it mean and how can I solve it?

Hi,

The CCS version supported for AM572x is v6.1.1. See processors.wiki.ti.com/.../AM572x_GP_EVM_Hardware_Setup

I have installed v7 because I received the link from the technical assistance from TI. Then if I install V6.1.1 it will work?

Yes it should work with CCS v6.1.1.

I installed CCS 6.1.1 and tried the hello world example and it didnt work.

Something is wrong with the gel files od the DebugSS.

How can I solve this issue?

Yes indeed. I followed all the steps described in the document: the error is exactly the same as the one I got with ccs7.

The emulator can not connect to the dap. Thank you for your support

I have tested the emulator (xds200) with the button verify connection and all went fine. Do I need to perform another test? Thank for your help Aldric

How are you trying to connect? With or without SD card? There is a PMIC timeout if you are connecting without an SD card as noted in the wiki:

Note: Keep in mind the PMIC shutdown issue discussed in previous section while connecting to the target cores. Due to the PMIC shutdown issue, users need to connect to A15_0 as soon as you push the power button to enable power to the SoC.

I am using CCS6.1.1 0r CCS7.1.0 without the SD card. I have read the user manual and know about the PMIC issue.

Who can help me with the issue?

I have a brand new developement kit with the AM572x, a new XDS200, a full version of CCS and it is not working after 1 week of debug.

Hopfully I will be better with my specific software.

Thank you Rogelio. I tried to past a print screen from the error I got. It is still the same after installing CCS6.1.1 with a full license and a full update software. It seems that my kit is locked or have an issue with the gel file which initilize the dap when I tried to connect to the cortex A 15_0

Thank you for your help.
In addition of that, I have bought 1-2 month ago a full version of ccs and with the new policy (no license) the free license I got for css6.1.1 is not working-> I can use only ccs7.1.0 with the xds200.

Aldric,

Can you confirm that the jumper setting on the side of the ethernet port are configured for SD boot. Have you tried with or without SD card?

For XDS200, can you look at the advanced setting and see if it matched the following.

Can you confirm that the test Connection option passes and that you are seeing the LED glowing when you try to connect to the EVM.

I have exactly the same option for the XDS200 than you.

The Led from the XDS is blinking when I try to connect.

Are you using a Spectrum digital XDS200 emulator or is it from a different manufacturer. Can you also confirm that there is no blue wiring on this board ? Is it connected to the LCD panel ?

Also, indicate if LED D3 on the EVM is on (not blinking). This indicate the Power management IC is on and powering up the SOC. Are LEDs D4 to D7 blinking or OFF ? If they are blinking, it indicates that you have microSD card inserted and Linux is running.

If that doesn`t work then you can try changing JTAG TCLK to 10MHz, 8Mhz, 5Mhz and 1Mhz. Is this the only board you have? If yes, can you insert the microSD card that came with kit in the EVM(as described in the QuickStartGuide) and let us know if you see boot logs on the UART. This will let us know if there is any issue with the board.

Dear Rahul,

I have bought an offical XDS200 emulator.

I do not understand what means "blue wiring" but there is no wire wrap on both boards.

When I connect to the A15_0 I push the ON switch then the led is ON. After 7 seconds the power go down (led off) but the error I am mentionning in the header of the discussion had already happend.

I tried all this experiment without the SD card.

When I am laucnhing Linux using the SD card I have access to the serial communication through putty (COM8).

I tried to change the TCKL to the frequencies you mentionned and nothing changed.

Aldric,

It is still unclear why your board is unable to connect using XDS200 emulator even with lower TCLK settings. From what you indicated the Linux can boot from SD card and you are seeing UART logs to indicate the boot and the Test connection is passing. Can you confirm that the board you have is A3 or higher revision (check label on the board) and you are using a power cable with the following spec:

I have asked the hardware team to take a look at the information that you have provided so far and if this is an hardware issue then you may need to do RMA process and replace your board.

Hello Rahul,

thank you for your support.
My board is a A3A -> serial number 40164P551268.

I am using the power supply from the box of the kit.
Do you know how long does it take to replace the board?
I have already lost 3 weeks in my development plan and need to update it.

It is a shame that the board has an issue but in the other side reinsure myself that there are nothing wrong with this development path.
