We have a custom board for AM3357 processor similar to EVM but slight difference in DDR3,

We used MT41K512M16HA-107 DDR3L device from Micron, We have routed DDR3L Signals as per BeagleBoneBlack.

Only change is we have used 8Gb Device instead of 4Gb ( MT41K256M16HA-125 ).

We were able to boot from NAND but after booting kernel Ethernet, MMC and USB is not detecting.

In U-BOOT Ethernet link is up. MMC card is detected but we are not able to read or write any thing to it.

When we try to "MMC rescan" command in U-BOOT we are error message as

"omap_hsmmc_send_cmd: timedout waiting on cmd inhibit to clear."

same error message for MMC read write also.

What Linux version is this? Please post the log file.

In EVM TI has pulled these pins to ground using 10K.
1)AM335X_GMII1_RXCLK
2) AM335X_GMII1_RXD0
3) AM335X_GMII1_RXD1
4) AM335X_GMII1_RXD2
5) AM335X_GMII1_RXD3

Should we pull these pins to GND for MMC to work in 4 BIT mode

These pulldowns are the Ethernet PHY bootstrap resistors. They have nothing to do with the MMC.

Dear Biser,

Is this related to hardware or software related issue?.

I am asking this because when we select MMC boot and put MMC card with in appropriate U-BOOT in it.
EVM board has this message since it has an in appropriate U-BOOT

StarterWare Boot Loader
Copying application image from MMC/SD card to RAM

Error reading application file
Jumping to StarterWare Application...

But same thing we do in our board, there is nothing on the serial port, after 20 sec it will switch to Serial BOOT and it puts "CCCC" on serial port?

Please decide what software you are using. You started this thread with questions about Linux, now you are talking about Starterware. If you have doubts about your MMC hardware please post the relevant part of the schematic.

Hi,

Something in your system is messing with the SD/MMC command/response protocol.
Have a look at the following threads:

The above deal with the error you get:
omap_hsmmc_send_cmd: timedout waiting on cmd inhibit to clear

This also might be caused if you're using the worng am335x_evm config, when building the u-boot, but this depends on what board you use, and which u-boot version.

One more thing you can try is play with the MMC clock (increase or decrease its frequency).

Hi Yordan Kovachev,

Our Board is custom board based on Am3357 and does not have configuration prom ( on I2C0 ).

So we have hardcoded Board to am335x-evm and used am335x-evm-nandconfig and booted the U-Boot successfully.

Since mmc command is having inhibit error , we followed the procedure provided in am335x technical reference manual ( page 3386 ).

We have plugged in 8GB SDHC card , which is provided by EVM board.

We are using mm and md command in u-boot, following are the commands

step 1 : mm 0x4806012c 0x600 // SD_CON Register of mmc0

step 2: mm 0x48060228 0xd02 // SD_HCTL Register of mmc0

step 3 : md 0x48060228 and waiting for SD_HCTL bit 8 ( SDBP) to go high ( 1 ), we are always getting 0 ( returned value is 0xc02 )

Note:- is configuration prom is a must for booting from MMC-SDHC card
