RTOS/XTCIEVMK2LX: Simple example using the bypass feature of the DFE

Part Number: XTCIEVMK2LX
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: RFSDK, 66AK2L06

Tool/software: TI-RTOS

Hi,

I am using CCS 7.1.0.00016 and a TCIEVMK2LX evaluation board.

I want to use the FMC connector to read and write signals. It seems I need to use the Digital Front End for that. I imported the project "dfeUnitK2LC66TestProject", hoping that I would understand which functions to use in CCSv7.

However, this example is way too complex. Would it be possible for you to provide the simplest way to write "1" on the pin called JESD0_TXP_FMC1 ? That would be a great help.

Since I want the signal to go directly to the DSP, the DFE signal processing blocks should be bypassed. Thus I would also like to know how to use the bypass feature.

I already managed to use the GPDAC pins using the FPGA, but this is too slow for me.

Thanks in advance,

Matthias

  • Hi Mattias,

I've forwarded this to the experts. Their feedback should be posted here.

  • Hello,
The JESD 204B interface is a serdes type interface where the serial data is formed into I or IQ frames, the frames are formed into multiframes. There is not an equivalent write 1 or 0 to this interface. The QMSSS, IQN, DFE, and Serdes are programmed through the RFSDK. You can request this online under the 66Ak2L06 reference designs. (specifically start with design 4). There is a mode where you can test drive the RFSDK in JESDloopback without the dataconverters to work through the DFE signal processing. To understand the JESD ADC and JESD DAC controls, this involves separate SPI programming outside the RFSDK.

    a) find design 4 materials - www.ti.com/.../tidep0081

    b) request and download the MCSDK 3147 (not latest Processor SDK), and RFSDK

    c) you will need to reflash the 66ak2l06 EVM. Follow the RFSDK installation guide,

    d) run the Design 4 JESD Loopback radio select, and evaluate the functions.

This will provide a concept of radio control, along with IQN and serdes operation. If you want to add the IF(DAC) and RF(ADC)
sections, the specific EVMs are discussed in the design 4 user guide.
