DM36x multi-channel Codec Usage

Hi, All

I am very interested in DM36X Codecs which support Video Decode and Encode (multi-channel).

I get some quesitions:

1. How can I know DM36X Codec in my DVSDK support multi-channel

2. How can I use it if it supports multi-channel, is there some examples showing how to programming ?

Hi,

1. All the codecs as part of DM36x DVSDK inherently supports multichannel capabilties.

2. DVSDK encode+decode demo is a simple example of 1 CH encode and decode working together.

About the second question, what I want to make sure is that whether DM365 Codec support multichannel encode or decode.

For example :

If I can get four channel D1 video in to DM365, Can DM365 Encode Codec Alg support to encode this four video in through four multichannel in alg?

Yes, they support multichannel encode and decode. You need to create as many instance of your codec Alg as he number of channels. regards

Hi Stephan,

As Yashwant pointed out, DM36x DVR RDK is the best platform to have multi-channel capture and encode operation happening. If you want, i can provide you some code to show how to create multi encoder instances and call the VIDENC1_process call for each handle, but i think that is trivial. If you are looking for complete solution, then you would need the hardware platform to run the code i provide. So in that case, the better approach is to get DVR RDK.

Let me know if you would like to get just the encoder multi-instance sample code and i can send it across to you.

Hi,

As i said, this is a trivial thing to have multiple instances of encode. You just have to create N number of handles and then call VIDENC1_process call for each handle. I am attaching a sample code from the DM36x DVR RDK which can give you some idea about how we created multiple handles and did multi-channel encoding. Refer to "ALG_vidEncTestMain" function at the end of the file
