TMS320C6678: PSC default value after reset

Part Number: TMS320C6678

"3.2 Peripheral Selection After Device Reset" in datasheet (SPRS691E) describes the PSC default value after reset.

- By default, the PCIe, SRIO, and HyperLink are held in reset and clock-gated.

- All other modules come up enabled by default and there is no special software sequence to enable.

I checked the PSC registers in TMDXEVM6678LE Rev 1.0 which is configured in No boot, PCIESSEN=0 and no GEL file. It shows that some other modules are held in reset and clock-gated.

Are these values correct as the default value after reset?

The document lists the default register values after reset.

I checked the register descriptions in the PSC user guide for PDSTAT and MDSTAT registers.

For STATE Field in PDSTAT register: Default value after reset: AlwaysOn domain -1; other domains -0.

For STATE Field in MDSTAT register: Default value after reset: C66x domain and Never-Gated domain -0x3; other domains -0.

The domain except AlwaysOn domain (Never-Gated domain) and C66x domain should be held in reset and clock-gated, but MSMC RAM is enabled by default.

Is it correct that MSMC RAM is enabled by default?

Hi Daisuke,

Yes MSMC has some default configuration, see this discussion:

And it is possible that msmc is used as is. However it can be reconfigured for your specific use case.

I want to know for MSMC RAM the PSC default value, not the default configuration of cache. If it is undefined, I will suggest to our customer to enable MSMC RAM in their software.

Yes you should advise your customer to specifically enable msmc ram.
