DM365 video output

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TFP410

We are using DM365 & we want three simultaneous video output streams: one to drive LVDS based LCD display, second one : HDMI and third one composite video.  The input will be digital RGB from  from DM365

So, we will have  to convert the Digital RGB out put from DM365 to LVDS to  LCD display  with minimum latency while simultaneously splitting out either the digital RGB or LVDS to HDMI.  Can the DM365 drive multiple receivers on the RGB lines from the processor?  If it can, then we can  drive both a LVDS and HDMI transmitter.

Also on the composite output, can the DM365 be configured for that signal come out simultaneously with digital RGB?

  • Himansu,

Do you mean that all three displays will have the same displayed image or three different images?

For the LVDS/DVI part of the question, you can connect an LVDS83B in parallel with a TFP410 to the parallel RGB output from DM3xx which will display the same image on both the LVDS LCD and the DVI display. The resolution and timings will need to be configured to match your LCD requirements.

If you really need HDMI for autio support then you can replace the TFP410 with a HDMI transmitter from someone like Silicon Image, Analog Devices.etc...

I am not 100% sure about the CVBS output capabilities when used in conjunction with the parallel CMOS outputs so can't comment further on that, sorry.

Regarding latency, if you mean the delay from the CMOS outputs to the actual display then the latency will be close to zero and will be panel/display dependent. Latency through the serializer will be of the order of 2 pixel clock periods.

  • I agree with Steve. The DAC is still quite fixed when it comes to timing. For example, other than NTSC/PAL/720P60/1080I, DAC doesn't support anything else at the moment.

You should be able to send the same RGB siginal to both HDMI PHY and LVDS transmitter simultaneously.

  • Steve & Paul,

    Thanks for this.

To answer your question, yes we're looking for simultaneous output of the same video on three outputs,  LVDS to an LCD, out an HDMI port, and a composite connector.

So if were outputting RGB for 720P to HDMI and LVDS can the DM365 also be generating a composite signal - or are there shared resources that would prevent that?  We are trying to determine if would we need to consider adding a third output "chain" converting RGB to composite.

    regards

  • Good question.

My understanding is simultaneous RGB output and composite YCbCr signal output is not possible. It has to be same contents in same format that has to be driven by both digital and analog interfaces. As such, the solution would likely require RGB output over analog and then external conversion from RGB to composite.

  • Hi Steve

I want to use a 320 * 240 resolution LCD screen to displays a 320 * 240 size images, this screen is annlog .  DM365 output format is YUV420, size is 320*240, but I found that the size of the image displayed  is only 1/4 of the screen size, and only 720 * 576 size images to full screen, but I configured window size is 320 * 240. I used ipnc-2.6 What are your thoughts?
