OMAP L137 and OMAP L137-HT differences

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AM1705

We are prototyping a product based on OMAP L137(256PBGA). The customer wants us to keep OMAP L137-HT(176PQFP) in mind while designing. This part is likely to be released into market in year 2011. What are the key architectural and functional difference between the OMAP L137 and OMAP L137-HT other than the package change from 256PBGA to 176 pin PQFP and higher working temparature. what functionalities/IO's have been affected due to the reduced pin count on OMAP L137-HT.Do you have any documentation in this regard?

  • Vedula,

Can you clarify the "HT" suffix?  Are you referring to the different temperature offerings in the standard datasheet (commercial, industrial, automotive, etc) or are you referring to a potential Hi-Rel offering?  Also, I am not aware of a current offering of standard OMAPL137 in QFP.  There is a QFP for DSP-only C6745, and a QFP for ARM-only AM1705.

For the standard offerings, the datasheet comprehends the different temperature grades.  You would just need to worry about the loss of functionality associated with the smaller pin-count package.

  • Hello Tommy,

    Thansk for your qucik reply.

w e are actually looking for details on "loss of functionality associated with the smaller pin-count package between OMAP L137 and OMAP L137-HT " apart from the obvious things like operating temperature , package  etc..

    any help?

  • Vedula,

I think that you will need to direct the -HT questions to the High Rel forum: http://e2e.ti.com/support/applications/high_reliability/default.aspx

They have a much better idea of what features are derated.

  • I too have the same question as Vedula. In addition to that I also want to know if external memory connecting to EMIFB bus can be 512Mb or it is restricted to 256Mb as mentioned in "Characteristics of the OMAPL137 Processor" on page 7 of the datasheet. Can anyone help?

  • Hi Ashlesha

For questions on HT devices , please use the hi-rel forums. I will send a note to the folks I know in this time to look at this thread too.

In addition to that I also want to know if external memory connecting to EMIFB bus can be 512Mb or it is restricted to 256Mb as mentioned in "Characteristics of the OMAPL137 Processor" on page 7 of the datasheet. Can anyone help?

It is 256 MB as stated in the datasheet.

Let us know if you have additional quesitons.
