C5502 I-Cache

Hi All,

Is the 16KB of memory used for the cache set aside out of DARAM or is the cache a separate region of memory and nothing to do with DARAM.

The documentation is not clear on this and I have been told that the I-Cache is taken from the DARAM - just checking!

The I-cache is a separate memory module from DARAM. If you think about all the extra circuitry needed for a cache it makes sense that this would need to be the case. It is also shown clearly in the block diagram Fig 3-1 in the C5502 Datasheet (http://www-s.ti.com/sc/techlit/sprs166).

Thanks for the reply.

It is clearly shown in the main C5502 doc, figure 3-1 as you suggest - I was looking in the I-Cache documentation (SPRU630C).
