TMS320C6678: Minimum CPU Frequency

Hi,

My customer has a question about minimum CPU frequency on C6678 and C6674.

In the spread sheet for power consumption model, the pop up shows the minimum CPU frequency is 800Mhz. I run my eyes through the datasheet, i could not find the related descriptions.

Could you please check if there is a minimum limit for CPU frequency with these devices ?

Hi Naoki,

According to the datasheet these devices range from 1GHz to 1.4GHz. I was not able to see a minmu limit for CPU frequency.

Naoki-san,

There is no minimum CPU frequency defined. the min and the max values in the spreed sheet corresponds to the speed grades at which the design validation of the silicon has been done. As you know the device can operate with PLL in bypass which is the CPU clocks will be running at as low as the input crystal in this condition. However, in order to handle the traffic from high speed data interfaces and keep up with DDR frequencies, you need to program the PLLs.
