Linux/PROCESSOR-SDK-AM335X: How to install Samba

Part Number: PROCESSOR-SDK-AM335X

Tool/software: Linux

hello together,

are there anywhere some instructions how to install Samba on the AM335x board?

We try to compile it directly on the board, but there are bunches of errors we are not able to fix all of it.

Regards

  • Hi,

You should recompile Yocto, as described here:
    lists.yoctoproject.org/.../012871.html

    Best Regards,
    Yordan
  • Yordan,
thank you for your answer, but this was completely impossible. We have our customized board up and running with so many software adoptions already. It was already an adventure to update from the Initial Linux Version to the latest Version.

I have now samba operational. Unfortunately Linaro does not work with apt-get, so the things are quite complicated. What i did to have it finally working, maybe some actions would not be neccessary:

-On a beaglebone black get-apt install samba, that was working like a charme.
-Download the last 3.xxx Version of samba and extract it in an own Directory on the beaglebone.
    -Run autogen.sh, configure and config.status
-Extract the samba in a directory with same name on the am335x
-Copy the newer files from the beaglebone to the am335x
-Run configure, you will get messages for missing .h files, copy the missing files from another Linux computer to the am335x
-This you have to do several times
    -Run on beaglebone again autogen
-Copy the new generated files to the am335x
    -Run configure on the am335x
    -Run config.status on the am335x
-Run configure install on the am335x
-Get somewhere the samba.conf files and adjust it to the am335x
-Same applies for the starting for the samba daemon

In Linux i hate, whatever you download, always some files for completition are missing.

    Regards
