Hi ,

In case we need to connect 2 cameras (2 VIP inputs or 2 video inputs srilized through MIPI-CSI2 interface), we need to check the capability of the SoC to manage the data .

What are the block/steps  that we have to check in order toi see if we have a limitation?

Thank you.

BR,

Mihai H

  • Hi Mihai,

Why don't you use CSI2 for all four channels? CSI2 supports upto 4 channels capture.
VIP can also be used to capture two channels, it is pinmuxed with display, so display will be limited.

  • Hi Brijesh,

Independent if I will use 1,2,4 CSI-2 lanes, my question is related more to the internal configuration of the DSP.
What are the blocks that I have to consider and where I should look for limitations ,
For sure, could be that in case of the CSI-2 compared with VIP we have some different blocks.

I will check the TRM file but still for me would be useful a to check just the right blocks that are affected.

  • Hi Mihai,

    How are you doing?

Some of the capabilities of VIP (such as on-the-fly scaling, color conversion) is not possible with CAL/CSI2 receiver on TDA3x. These features could be achieved with ISS of TDA3x. I am not sure if you are using above feature of VIP. Both these interfaces (VIP/CSI2) has it's own advantages.

If you could list down the required features (or feature of VIP that you are using), probably we could recommend the appropriate methods to achieve the same.

I would request you to look at the block diagram of CAL (for CSI2 receiver) and VIP in TRM to determine the features.
