TDA3: SPI Master Not Starting at Cold Temperature (~ -35C)

Part Number: TDA3

Hello,

A customer has observed a failure related to TDA3, the SPI interface and a Cold Temperature condition (~ -35C).

On the customer board, the TDA3x SPI is configured as a Master.

  • At room temperature testing, the customer observes a valid clock signal as well as valid SPI signals.  The target board operates as expected.
  • At cold temperature (~ -35C), the customer does not observe a valid clock signal or expected SPI traffic.  The target board does not operate.

What register configurations should be checked in this error case?

Which debug logs might capture a failure event?

What is the relationship between temperature and SPI, if any?

The device under test is a prototype TDA3x device that has been full-temp tested.

The customer has not observed failure across multiple target boards; the customer observed this on a single target board.

What other meaningful information should I request from the customer?

Thank you!

  • Hi Jason,

In case only single board was affected, it could be a cracked solder/track/via. Can they configure the clock idle state to be at high level and then measure the clock signal at -35deg or after issue happens? They should read high level if connectivity is good.

    Regards,
    Stan
