Linux/TMDSSK3358: Touch screen not working, randomly responsive, barely works

Part Number: TMDSSK3358

Tool/software: Linux

Hi,

I just got the TMDSSK3358 AM335x Starter Kit.

I powered it on with the linux card.

The touch screen is not working very well at all, it is randomly responsive, literally the touch screen barely works.

Is this normal? Did I expect too much from the kit?

  • Hi Nathan,

The touchscreen should working well at all. I'm not sure what SDK version you are using and whether the linked below tip about touch screen calibration is applicable for it but you can try:

Also you can recalibrate the touchscreen by deleting the calibration data file as it is described.

An other way to test the touch screen response is to execute the following command on the console:
    # cat /dev/input/touchscreen0
Then start touching the screen. You should see some symbols on the console at each screen touching. If not there is an issue with touchscreen.

  • Thanks Tsvetolin Shulev.
I will try recalibrating the screen.
Will let you know when I get to it and if it improves.
