AM4376: HDMI device I2C interface

AM437x does not have a HDMI port. An external HDMI transmitter is used with this processor. If by I2C you mean the DDC interface on the HDMI connector, this is established between the HDMI transmitter and the sink device. The I2C interface from AM437x is used only for configuration of the HDMI transmitter.

This is a DVI transmitter, not HDMI, and we don't have support for this use case in the Processor SDK. You will need to implement a DDC communication driver over I2C. According to the DDC2B standard the monitor acts as a slave device at the 7-bit I²C address 50h, and provides 128-256 bytes of read-only EDID. Because this access is always a read, the first I²C octet will always be A1h.

The TFP410 can be used but this part is only designed to transmit DVI / HDMI which will carry video only (no audio).

The display detection is done over I2C using the EDID format. This is a standard defined 128-byte structure with display identification and supported features. The resources I linked below claim 0x50 is the I2C slave address to use. Your I2C line should go through a level translator since HDMI expects the lines to have a 5V pull-up. I recommend using the TPD12S016 to provide your level translator, hot-plug detect, and ESD protection.
