TMS320DM8148: MJPEG Encoding

Hi,

I have following queries regarding MJPEG Encoding supported in DM8148.

1. Will 8148 MJPEG codec does encoding as per JPEG 2000 standard ?

2. If we give PAL video for MJPEG Compression, each jpeg image will be of a field or frame ? As PAL is a interlaced format, will encoder encodes it in field format or frame format

3. Can I encode a PAL video as MJPEG. Will the encoder is capable of encoding all frames/fields

4. If encoder supprots, after encoding the JPEG images will be transferred to HOST link and written to file. Will ARM is capable of writing all the frames ? Is the speed of ARM is enough to write JPEG encoded images into the file at the rate of PAL frame rate

    No. JPEG 2000 Standard is not supported by TI MJPEG Encoder.

    Interlaced encoding is not supported.

    The supported formats are listed in User guide. Please refer user-guide.

    1080p60 is possible. Please refer datasheet for the details.
