TMDXIDK5718: Profinet GSD file issue

Im using an AM571x IDK eval board and wants to run the profinet example with an ABB PLC.

It is possible scan the profinet chain. Then I see a device with name “molex-devti”. I can assign an ip address, start/stop led signaling (D16 / Industrial LED 0 à green blinking) or assign an IO-device name.

Then I set up the device with the gsd file. but I only see a blinking green LED (changes from blue blinking to green) D17 / Industrial LED1.

The plc diagnostics says that node is inactive. I get the following diagnostic state:

“The IO-Device reported a ModuleDiffBlock during connection establishment”

Before I compiled the example, I patched the pdk with the files in folder “protocols\pdk_patches\03.03.00” and did a new build of the pdk (gmake).

For me it looks that the gsd file (details see below) does not match to the example.

CCS: CCS7.0.0.00043

SDK: ti-processor-sdk-rtos-am57xx-evm-03.03.00.04

IDK: PRU-ICSS-Profinet_Slave_01.00.01.00

PLC: ABB PM590 with CM579 (Profinet Master)

Eval-Board: AM571x Industrial Development Kit (TMDXIDK5718)

Hi Christoph,

I don't think we have such a PLC and therefor related PROFINET master. So we are not able to directly reproduce your problem.
Would you be able to generate a wireshark capture so we can do some analysis?

Did you configure some slot/subslots in your setup?

Yes i did the configuration for the slots.

We have ordered a switch with port mirroring, otherwise we are not able to make a wireshark capture:
I think we will get it at the beginning of the next week. Then we can test it again.

Hi Chrisitian,

on a first look there is something wrong with your module config. The connect response from the device reports 'wrong module'.
Obviously there are no cyclic CPM/PPM data packets in your log (I assume because there are none, or did you filter?). Without them a data communication is not possible. But I can't say from the log why this happened. Maybe the stacks don't send them because of the Slot errors. We don't own the stacks so I am not the expert here.

Hello Christoph,

Can you please try with AM571x 'Prebuilt Binaries' which can be downloaded from the release page? Also which port in AM571x IDK did you use to connect with PLC?

Hi Nijin

We have sucessfully implemented EtherCAT at the moment.
But we will implement Profinet with an external hardwaremodule which is connected to the Sitara processor.
Because the impementation effort for Profinet is to high.
