AM3351: Which Sitara processor to use

I wanted to use a Sitara processor in my design. I want to have DDR3L, USB, Ethernet and to be able to secure boot it. Would be AM3351BZCE60 to do all these things. Also which would be a good regulator for it?

All AM335x devices have DDR3L, USB and Ethernet interfaces. For your boot requirements you need a HS device. Please refer to this document: www.ti.com/.../spry305.pdf and contact TI directly for more information about HS devices.

If you are looking for HS devices for low volume applications, I would recommend you check also AM437x.

I will try to summarize, but more details can be found here: (you can go to our product selection page, and selects AM335x and AM437x and compare both families)

AM437x is Cortex A9 vs A8, has 32 bits DDR bus vs 16, QSPI, 2 parallel camera ports, quad core PRU vs dual core, 2 ADCs vs 1 and it has secure boot version that allows customer to burn the keys.

The problem with AM437x is that is much bigger than AM335x. The main reason for picking AM335x was that it is smaller and doesn't have all the extra features I don't need. A secure processor is one the main requirement even if its not a very fast one. If AM437x is the only one that does secure boot then I would compromise the space over function.

This may sound like a silly question but I wanted to ask . Is it possible to develop software on Beaglebone Black and migrate it to a different board with Sitara device like AM335x or AM437x afterwards?

Our Processor SDK is a common software for Sitara devices, like AM335x, AM437x, AM57x. Some peripherals are the same, some are not, and overall you can migrate your application from one device to the other. This is the beauty of our Processor SDK...

All secure boot documentation is under NDA, including access to the high security EVM. An alternative could be using an external TPM with our standard device.
